Worst computer virus i've ever had

This sucks, my computer has been seriously infiltrated and I can't get rid of this ******. I'm getting buffer overruns and then I lose all my icons, I'm getting a blue screen every now and then, tons of popups, frequent freezeups. Everythign you can think of. I know that it is some sort of trojan b/c my anti virus popups keep saying they blocked a trojan.

I've tried all the free anti-virus software out there and none is working (avast, nod32, AVG, ad-aware. )

I one time paid $20 for spy sweeper and that was decent but that expired a long time ago.

Are the pay anti-virus software really worth it? I really don't want to drop $40-50 and not be able to totally get rid of this thing.

Any suggestions of a very good A/V?

Shits fucked. And I have a Dell 9100 - a pretty decent cpu.

A lot of these new trojans are damn near impossible to remove unless you really know what you are doing.

Assuming that you're running WinXP, the first thing you have to do to have any chance of getting rid of it is disabling system restore, rebooting into safe mode & then running a scan.

There's no guarantee that will work-they've gotten that bad. Some of this stuff is so bad, I'm tempted to just start telling people to take it to Best Buy & cough up the $50 or whatever they charge to clean it up.

I have a Mac-book Pro and I also run windows XP through Parallels. I had that same virus a few weeks back while running MacAfee Security. MacAfee couldn't get rid of all the new trojans.
Since then I've re-downloaded windows XP and am using Kaspersky Security. It seems to have more up to date security updates to combat the newer trojans.

Had a similar type virus on a laptop about 5 mos ago. Could not remove using removal software. ended up doing a "restore" and cleaned everything up perfectly. If you haven't tried the windows restore option, do that.

Safe yourself the hassle and switch to a Mac.

A few weeks ago I picked up BackdoorBeastdoor. I'm no computer guru and after trying all day, this program that program,safe mode ......, I pulled out my hard drive (laptop) and just for instances like this, I installed my extra hard drive that was a clone of my original one. I use a rocket fish enclosure to house my extra HD (cheap, ebay $10-30) extra Harddrive from Newegg. I fired up the computer, clean as a whistle, plugged in my virused HD, looked thru to see if there was anything that I needed, ran the virus/spyware programs a few times, dragged and dropped, then I erased/reformatted and cloned my virused HD using Acronis True Image and now I have a brand new cloned HD at my disposal for the next time I get button happy and hit download and the super virus takes over. I use bittorrent for downloading music and programs. Sometimes you pick up a lot of trash but it cleans up easy. Lets say for example, I want to try a new spyware program, for example Ad-Aware 2008. I'll Google Ad-Aware 2008 torrent crack. The list of websites show up, example Pirates Bay, I'll choose the one with most seeds and healthy. Download the file using bittorent (which is a program that you must download before doing all of this). Your new downloaded program will be in your download folder *** You must have a small knowledge of how to access your program files, copy, paste, etc.... So after some trial and error, you'll get the hang of it. So what you'll end up with is a program for free that you might have spent $49.99 (example). If you like the program, keep it, if not, delete it. I keep all of my program downloads on a flash drive and I delete them from my harddrive download folder. I do keep a small collection of my programs on my flash drive and I can run or reinstall them from there if I like. I'm just a below the average computer user and I've kind of found out how to keep my HD healthy. When in doubt, reinstall, it's too easy. alwatts

you have a virus I removed a few weeks ago. YOur best bet is to get a combination of ccleaner and malware bytes. before you et to that step you will need some damage control. Goto run command line tye regedit. Goto the search option and type in the virus name or prefix that you belive you have. Once it finds it in the registry, ensure it is isolated to that file and delete it. Press f3 for the next occurence of the entry and then you can run ,malwarebytes, ccleaner...then restart.
